Mike has been teaching my 9 year old daughter since August and she loves it. Right from the start Mike put her at ease with his teaching style and she is not afraid to ask questions or say when she needs him to cover something again. She has lessons as part of a group at school but much prefers the attention she gets in her one to one lessons with Mike at home.

Mike is one of, if not, the best guitar and music teacher in the North West! Every lesson is tailored around your current ability and what will help you to reach your next stage in your music career. The great thing about Mike is not only is he a profound teacher and musician he has become a great friend.
He can adapt to your learning style and bring out the best in you as a musician and is multidimensional meaning he can teach from Jazz to Classical and anything in between which is a unique and attractive attribute. I told Mike from the start I wanted to use influences from my guitar idol to create my own ‘sound’ and he took me down the paths that would lead me to that style.
The greatest achievement is when other people around you recognise how I’ve moulded my own style and sound; this has only been achievable through the help, hard work and patience of Mike.
If you are worrying you have no theory knowledge, don’t! I had very basic theory knowledge when starting off with Mike and now my theory is at Grade 5 which has given me the upper hand when taking my A-Level music in college. If you are serious about becoming the complete musician Mike can get you to where you aspire to be with efficiency and more importantly with a vast amount of enjoyment along the way!

Mike as a teacher and a person is wonderful. You can really tell that he cares about the progress of his students. I had Mike for just under a year and he transformed the way I played. He was blunt about the mistakes I was making and helped me to rectify them. I have played several gigs and I can truly have confidence in my guitar playing thanks to Mike. Great teacher.

I am a mum to 10 year old twin boys. Both were keen from an early age to start learning an instrument. As they were quite young when they expressed this desire to learn, I thought I will wait until they started primary school. They were tenacious and reminded me every once in a while that they wanted to play an instrument. Hence, one started the piano and the other classical guitar, when they were 6 years old.
After nearly four years, the one doing the piano is doing great but the one doing the guitar was still miles behind his twin. So after speaking with my son, It dawn on me that it could be the teacher, surely.
Then we met Mike. I found his details on the yellow page just before last summer holiday. After the taster lesson in July, my son was really happy with the new teacher. My son had guitar lessons with mike since the beginning of last September. I cannot believe how much my boy has progressed since. He is more confident when playing and practicing the guitar and he is already ready to take his first grade exam in March.
Mike is very positive toward his student, he put my boy at ease and help him learn in an easy going manner.
I do highly recommend him as a skilled teacher.

Mike has the difficult task of teaching a 49 year old lover of rock music how to really play guitar. Mike is very patient and has made me re-think what I think I have heard and put me straight. Before Mike I have tried and failed to play guitar. Now with mikes guidance I feel I can play.
I would highly recommend anyone take lessons off Mike. He tailors the lesson for your style of play and style of learning. He must have heard me say a million times 'I can't do that', to me seeing me doing this a week later and saying sorry, I actually can. A guitar teacher yes, but now a friend who I learn from. Book him and learn a real life skill off a true gent!!!!

My Daughter started guitar lessons with Mike to help her as she was learning guitar at primary school. She was not getting it being part of a group lesson and Mike's half hour lessons helped her learn her pieces for school performances. My son also started guitar lessons with Mike when he was in primary school and Mike is now helping him with his GSCE music. After 6 years of lessons they are both great guitarists.

I have been having lessons from Mike for over seven years. I thought about how to spend my retirement and decided to learn to play a guitar. I found his contact number back in 2007 and never looked back.
I have turned 65 early this year and I am still learning. Yes, it was slow to start with since I had never had a music lesson before. Nevertheless, I always wished I could play a musical instrument. I am still struggling and Mike has been a very patient teacher. As long as I have a will to learn I would like to continue to have a lesson.
